High throughput & compact robustness to maximize material handling efficiency

The Customer’s Problem

Limited storage space and uneven product flow for inventory can pose significant challenges when loading trains, especially for businesses dealing with bulk materials like urea, whose demand and prices can vary swiftly.

Nutrien faced this issue when it initially used dozers to manage its urea warehouse at one of its North Texas sites. It quickly realized that dozers were not only inefficient and costly but also posed safety risks. The challenge was to find an automated solution that could fit within its existing warehouse without sacrificing storage capacity.

The AMECO Solution

By their very nature, AMECO’s product line of reclaimer systems (PSx) are designed and built to handle massive amounts of material in a straight line.

By working closely with Nutrien and leveraging our 40+ year partnership, we developed a customized solution that allowed the dual-boom reclaimer (AMECO PS2) to operate in a deeper V-shaped storage area, maximizing space without costly warehouse modifications.

The PS2’s articulated arm allowed NArmien to maintain high throughput (420 TPH) while ensuring the system could operate 18 hours daily with an impressive 99.9% uptime. This solution improved material handling efficiency, enhanced safety, and reduced operational costs.
